Racheal’s work extends from the context of personality and style while revealing different aspects of history which have had a profound impact on her as an artist. She’s a Burundian and Rwandese to migrant parents but raised in Uganda where her creative practice has always played an important part in her personal and professional development. Taking photos of found objects has given her a sense of openness and fluidity about the process especially in the current modern culture, where many believe history has no relevance.

In addition to returning to those same cultural aspects that are hidden or misrepresented.  Employing a varied range of approaches such as photography, printmaking, digital collage, painting, and installations have had an impact on the way she makes her projects come to life but also instilling a stillness of memory. Her current project is a printmaking series and textile installation that are an interpretation of her background and identity with the thought of the process and it is very much part of the practice itself.  Often focusing on incorporating misplaced objects and using them to evoke a traditional distance of acceptance and having a voice or draw in the viewer.
